Scotland vs. the L&MRA
Scotland fielded a team of 19 for its annual match against the LMRA, this year an "away" fixture taking place at Bisley. The overall result was a win for Scotland 3,276.316v to 3,198.269v. The match was shot in great spirit and particularly pleasing was a strong turnout of "new" shooters to the Scotland set up. For full details of scores follow this link.Brockholes and Altcar visit
Lindsay Peden, Scottish captain writes:- A Scottish team visited Brockholes (Nr
Huddersfield) on the 20th August
and Altcar on the 21st August. At both locations we were
given a very warm welcome.
On the Saturday we shot against Huddersfield Rifle
Club at 200 and 500
yards in an uncoached shoot, using their electronic targets. The match
scores are on the attached spreadsheet.
On Sunday, we shot against a team from the County
of Lancaster at
Altcar. We were joined by Susan Webb who lives locally and shot a team
of 11 against their twelve, with the highest 10 counting for the match
(see attached). The match was a coached shoot at 300/500 and 600 yards.
We were lucky with the weather at both ranges,
with the only rain
falling heavily on our drive from Brockholes to Southport late on
Saturday afternoon.
It should be noted that the National Match is
expected to be shot at
Altcar on the weekend 26/27th May 2012, subject to Wales and Ireland
being able to field teams, so it was a good opportunity for some of the
those in contention for places in the match to have a look at and shoot
on the Altcar range.
Imperial
The National
Following last year's first win since 1965 in
target shooting's National Match, Scotland repeated their victory over
England at the NRA Annual Prize Meeting. Bettering last years score by
five points, they won by the narrowest of margins, finishing on a total
of 2075.279, just two points ahead of England. This was also the first
time since 1900 that Scotland have won the magnificent trophy in
consecutive years. No fewer than seven of the team of twenty firers
made the maximum 105, with Capt. Alexander Gill leading the way with 18
of his 21 shots in the smaller V-bull. One of the five target teams
completed the match with all four firers making the maximum score. Team
Captain, Lindsay Peden, was delighted with the win, who retires from
the position with the enviable record of two wins in three years, and
paid tribute to the parts played in the victory by all the team
members, firers coaches and the support team.

The Anglos Match
As a jpeg! here
Attached are the results of the Anglos match –
sorry they appear faded – the Captain of the Army team who did the
stats said that due to the cuts, there was little ink in the printer. [...]
Unlike yesterday, the weather today was very warm (circa 30 deg C), with light fishtail winds on Stickledown, and with surprisingly large brackets at 9 and 1000 of up to 7 minutes.
Clive Amstein Memorial Trophy
West of Scotland shot on the 11th/12th
June at Bisley in the Amstein Trophy, which is competed for by County
teams of four (generally for counties who cannot raise a team of 8 to
compete in the major inter count event).
