SRA Mini Tour
Scottish Mini-Tour to Northern England 20th & 21st August 2011
All members of the SRA are invited to apply to join the team which will shoot in Brockholes (Huddersfield) on August 20th and at Altcar on the 21st August. No previous experience of shooting for Scotland is required. I hope to take a team of around 12 people with a mix of ages and experience, so do not be deterred from coming if you are either a tiger or a tyro.
The outline plan is as follows:
- Friday August 19th
- meet in the Brockholes area for drinks and or dinner with the local club. Stay overnight in the Brockholes area.
- Saturday August 20th
- shoot at Brockholes (course of fire to be determined)
- Sunday August 21st
- team match against Lancashire (course of fire and team size to be agreed)
Please contact me soonest by e-mail ( ) or telephone if you would be interested in joining the team in this chance to shoot on different ranges. For U-25 applicants, a small subsidy of the cost of the tour will be made.

High Performance Squad for Glasgow 2014
The Scottish High Performance Squad (HPS) for Full-Bore rifle shooting has been very ably managed by Allan Mabon for the past three Commonwealth Games (CG). He has however decided to step down and I have taken over as Manager of the programme. Now that the Games in Delhi 2010 are behind us, I need to establish a Full-Bore Rifle High Performance Squad (HPS) for the CG in Glasgow 2014. Its purpose will be to identify and prepare athletes for both the pairs and individual events. It is intended that two athletes will be nominated from the HPS at the end of the 2013 season and will be proposed to the Games Council for inclusion in the Scottish CG team during 2014.
This note is a general invitation to all SRA members to apply for inclusion in the HPS programme. During 2011, any SRA member can participate in the Squad for their personal development, even if they are not interested in or eligible to participate in the Games themselves.
Please note that more details of the way the programme will operate have been sent to all SRA members for whom I have a current e-mail address. If you have not received them, please contact me directly by e-mail or telephone. These details will not be put on the website. I look forward to receiving your application soonest. If you are interested in participating in the World Championships in Brisbane in October, I must have the form returned urgently, as we are very late in the planning cycle for this event.
